wow that looks really cool. but it's hard to compare a polished, shipping product, with cool research.

Going from a research lab to a product is incredibly hard. Look at what happened to Xerox PARC.

(btw, not claiming you are seriously comparing this to an iphone)

Being that it's Ted, the same location that saw Jeffery Han demoing modern multi-touch which Apple then cribbed a few years later to make the iPhone, such technology could prove a spring board.
